“LOKI: wearable ledger of knowledge and information”

LOKI is a Horizon 2020 funded project under the name “(wearable) ledger of knowledge and information”. It was awarded by C-VoUCHER consortium, that is led by FundingBox Accelerator and is composed of 13 partners from six countries (Denmark, Romania, France, Poland, Spain, and Sweden). It is the first pan-European initiative, funded by the European Commission, aiming at the adoption of the concept of the Circular Economy to transform linear value chains (cradle to waste) towards circular models (cradle to cradle®).


Team introduction

We are a team of fashion entrepreneurs and engineers located in Bucharest, Romania and Manchester, UK. An international board of advisors supplements our team, with professionals having background in science, technology, agri-tech, sustainability, business management and public funding.

The founder and CEO of the company is Razvan Valceanu, entrepreneur in the fashion industry and manager of several technology companies. Founder of LOKI TECH, British company owned by Tailor Studio SRL from Romania. Razvan is graduate of the Academy of Economic Studies, Faculty of Trade and Tourism and Faculty of Marketing and will manage and coordinate a team of employees and partners.

Existing products & solutions

Curently we produce basic Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) that is customized for construction and manufacturing industries, and includes clothing, face shields, facemasks and gloves. The hazards we address include physical, chemical, and airborne particles.

Actively involved into R&D for advanced materials and e-textiles, we target to launch future colections of wearable ergonomics (smart uniforms and workwear). We have successfully validated in UK, with University of Manchester how Graphene can be used for textiles and a sustainability certification we will endorse clothes and accessories made with smart wool.

Targeted customers

Our main target sectors are governamental (military and police), construction, agriculture, textiles and manufacturing. Rising importance of work wear as a way of showing professionalism in the governmental and manufacturing sectors is predicted to remain a key driving force in the PPE market.

Solution description: transparency and traceability for the circular economy

The design of the platform was supervised by scientists that are focusing on the use of wool as raw material in sectors such as construction, pharma and the re-launch of the textile industry. Products made from wool are used in construction in the form of mattress or rollers as heat or sound insulating materials. Analysing the wool’s structure and its properties it is shown that the rejected wool in textile industry is exactly what is needed in the new fields of use, as thermal and acoustic insulation of buildings, for acoustic insulation in automotive and aviation and as a crop fertiliser in agriculture. According to successful international programs for performing energy efficiency the materials used are organic-natural and the sheep wool is one of them, therefore an ideal solution for its capitalisation inside a circular bio economy is presented. The resumption of wool processing in textile industry entails high costs compared to its processing in the construction sector, where obtaining quality does not need great expense and it is not difficult goal to achieve. The short-term and very short-term objective is the implementation of platform that connects the farms that provide raw materials with companies for washing, drying and treating sheep wool. The establishment of those capitalisation centers must pursue various aspects such as: type of wool packing (bulk or bale), water supply for washing, but also water outlet after treatment in the immediate vicinity of a watercourse. As soon as the raw materials will enter the process of washing, carding, spinning, and manufacturing and then recycling, we will be able to use the sustainability certification for all members participating into the supply-chain.

The blockchain platform implementation is at the stage when other parties join it for ideation, design and testing. The first objective was to create a strong consortium of entities, to set an industry standard for transparency in recycled content in Romania and to certify and promote the members. New members will become sustainable innovators in the textiles industry, having access to the latest information and resources, and getting an opportunity to co-create an industry-wide communication standard for the circular economy.
